About Us

It’s the people that make SoWhat tick and groove along. It is NO COINCIDENCE that many of us in the team do something really creative when we’re not grooving away with Coltrane, Miles or Charlie Parker (the names of the studios if you haven’t been paying attention to the rest of this site).

We are largely made up of budding singers, musicians, artists, dancers, photographers, and actresses. We didn’t plan it that way. They either came to us because of a curiosity about why on earth otherwise functional market research studios would be named after Miles Davis’s signature tune, or because they were already well tuned into Baz and his love of jazz before we even set up!

Baz (co-founder of So What)

Baz (co-founder of So What)Leader of the pack, and so laid back and into his music that he can be found happy and horizontal on the Coltrane couch on the rare day when there is no studio in session and clients are not around.

When clients ARE around, he’s attentive and bends over backwards to keep everyone happy – clients moderators, respondents and members of staff. He hangs it all together and is appreciated by all and sundry. If there’s a problem, he’ll fix it.

Basher (Studio Manager, central London)

BasherBasher manages Charlie Parker and has a business background in sales and customer service, working exclusively for top retail brands (Kurt Geiger, Russell Bromley and Daisy and Tom). Could this be why she chose So What as her latest venture?!

With her business awareness she has a natural empathy with clients and what they are trying to achieve with market research. With her flair for customer service and a thoroughly disarming manner, Basher is always ahead of the game in her endeavours to keep everyone happy relaxed fed and watered.

Kate (Studio Host)

KateOur resident artist. In her spare time, in amongst racing around keeping a family on track, Kate is a creative soul and is at her happiest piecing together bits of driftwood and pebbles and stuff that the rest of us would throw away, and sketching portraits and charactertures of other members of the team.

Spot her work amongst the jazz albums on the wall (although some of it has been nicked by the owners and adorns their walls at home).

Katya (studio host)

As well as hosting in Richmond and central London, Katya doubles up as our resident photographer, and her talents can be spotted by perusing this website – Katya recently helped us update this website with a number of beautiful shots of our studios.

Jessica and Jessica (Studio Hosts)

Jessica P Jessica HWe have two Jessica’s on our team, both of whom host the groups in Richmond and central London. A few years ago Jessica P started a female a-Capella group in the style of the old Pointer Sisters. Jessica H is trained in musical theatre, and is a self-employed actor, singer and dancer who also teaches others in the art of doing so. Our team is small and intimate and both Jessica’s recently joined So What when enticed to do so by Liz, our Studio Manager!
Now it wouldn’t do if everybody was an actress, musician or the whacky creative kind, or we’d all be fighting for the limelight. We also have other talents in the team.

Gerard (Accountant)

GHead down, serious and focused when cracking the figures at work, our accountant (otherwise known simply as ‘G’) is anything but when he leaves the office.
He can be found rocking with his keyboard at various venues around London and abroad with Debbie Bonham, sister of John from Led Zeppelin.

Lee (IT Manager)

LeeThankfully, being the IT manager means I can edit my own blurb! At the office, if theres anything you need IT or AV related, no matter how complex, please call me for a chat since with 25 years industry experience, from VAX to Blackberry, we can usually put something together to match your requirements. I've just completed a masters in human-centered systems at City University, London and have a broad interest in technology and ways of improving our day-to-day lives by application of such. Outside the office (although you can't tell by the photo), when I'm not traumatised by my two terrible teenagers I spend time in the gym having mid-life discovered the joys of strength training, or engaging in more classically geek-like pursuits such as anime, manga and metal detecting.
